If Only Studying Was As Easy As Singing A Song
Oh boy, studying. It's funny how when you're approaching a new semester and you're all excited about studying and finally having something to do, but then all of a sudden when the time comes you suddenly find yourself having to a dozen other things and well that poor books get neglected and then exams are fast approaching like a sudden thunderstorm and the next thing you know, you don't even want to hear the word studying because your head feels like its going to explode. Whew. Deep breath in, deep breath out.
Yup, that's studying for you. Oh should I rephrase?
It's more like not studying and then dealing with the pressure of those actions.
I'd like to think of myself as good at studying but then when actually writing the paper, suddenly all the information flies over my head. I'm sure there was a time for you when you're sitting with your pen raised to attack that question but then the next thing you know, you suddenly can't find the words or it's on the tip of your tongue. Oh, the nightmares. Actually, it's every students nightmare when you suddenly can't remember your work.
Here's some helpful tips for when that dreadful time is approaching:
- Prepare in advance
- Make sure to make a lot of notes
- Take well timed breaks
- Avoid all distractions but do focus on one goal (other than getting all As) to keep you motivated
- Revise all notes before writing
- Take a chill once a day before the exam period because stress can be your worst nightmare
Remember, if you do fail, it's okay. No one is going to chop your head off. Yes, you're going to feel like it's the end of the world and you're the worst person and all those other devilish thoughts but forget all of those. Why, because there is always a second chance. And if you do pass everything, yay to you. Celebrate and jump for joy! Bask in the glory of the feeling of winning by passing. You've done well. Consider this a pat on the back.
